The construction next door was extremely loud and woke us far too early, ruining our stay. I understand the hotel couldn’t prevent the work, but we weren’t warned when booking. If we’d known, we wouldn’t have booked. The hotel’s response to our request for a partial refund was rude and dismissive. They took no responsibility and made us feel as if we were the problem, which made everything worse. We were shocked, especially given the good online reviews. We should have booked through booking.com instead of the hotel’s own website, since it seemed they had little reason to help us otherwise. We had a terrible time and left very disappointed.

The courtyard was especially lovely, and the common areas had a comfortable, pleasant feel. The rooms are basic but have what you need. Staff were kind and flexible, and helped make our five-day stay wonderful. It was just what I picture for a small-town Spanish hotel. I’d happily come back.

Canet isn’t a tourist town, which suited us: it was quiet, with little cafes, restaurants, and shops to browse. The clean beach and walking paths were easy to reach, and from our terrace we could see the ocean through the open window doors. The nearby train was quiet and electric, and didn’t run at night. Our hotel manager was gracious, and the dining worked perfectly for our vegetarian needs. He even put me in touch with someone for Spanish lessons while we were there. We loved our fall stay at Hotel Mitus.

Canet is much less crowded than other Costa Maresme towns, with fewer tourists, and the beach wasn’t packed either. There are good restaurants and bars near Mitus, and both the beach and railway station are close by. The family staff were friendly and helpful. Hotel Mitus is a charming choice for a peaceful holiday on the Maresme coast.

We’ll definitely return. Our top-floor room at Hotel Mitus had a terrace with a table, chairs, and a couple of loungers. Everything was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and ready to help, and breakfast was a simple continental spread, fresh and delicious. A great little hotel in Canet de Mar.
