El Angliru

The campsite was pretty nice, but the pitches were very small. Some people put up a tent and then parked in the neighbouring pitch, and at many pitches the grass at the front was gone where tyres had driven over it. The showers and cleaning areas were as expected, and the food was reasonably priced.

Charging for two nights in high season is understandable. But the website let me select two available nights, take all my details and charge my credit card, then immediately sent an invoice with a note in a free-text field saying the booking was cancelled. The whole process was pointless, unprofessional, and frustrating.

We only wanted one night, but had to pay for two even though the campsite wasn't full. It seems they don't like campers just passing through. The pitches are small, though the toilet block looks fairly new and clean. I've never come across a campsite in Spain that wouldn't allow a one-night stay, so that's why I gave it two stars.

The campsite itself was good and quiet, with room for tents and campervans. But over five days we were without hot water about three times, and the washing machines and dryer weren't working. Most of the women's toilets wouldn't lock, and the bathroom cleanliness was questionable. The staff did their jobs, but we got no smiles or extra information. Maybe they were overworked, or maybe that's just their personalities. Customer service could be better.
