Hotel Mirador de La Cepada

I regret leaving a negative review because the property is beautiful and has a lot of potential. Check-in was welcoming, but checkout was so disappointing it overshadowed our whole one-night stay. The shower only had cold water, so we couldn't shower at all. For a four-star hotel, hot water is a basic expectation. We had also reserved a high chair for our baby, but at breakfast we were told the only one was already in use. We had to hold the baby the whole time and couldn't properly enjoy breakfast. At checkout, when we raised the water issue, the staff member just said the shower was working now, which didn't help since we were already leaving. They said they knew nothing about our high-chair request. There was no real apology or effort to make up for the inconvenience, and it left us feeling our concerns didn't matter. Based on how the complaints were handled, I wouldn't recommend the hotel despite its beauty. Customer service fell short, and having only one high chair for the entire hotel is simply not acceptable for families.

The breakfast suited my taste, and the location is good if you’d rather not sleep in the middle of town. Some rooms have a beautiful view. But the hotel is called "viewpoint" (mirador), and many rooms have just one tiny window, maybe 30-40cm, making them feel like caves. The other room we got had a great view, while the first was really dark and closed in. The service was bad. One of our beds had no blanket when we arrived. In another room, they took the towels we'd put on the floor to be replaced and left the dirty pile on the basin. One night the hot water apparently didn't work, so we had a cold shower. The WIFI only worked some of the time, too. I attached a photo of a broken tile in our room, which didn't look very professional.

This felt nowhere near 4-star standard. The property is extremely dated, with old decor, worn plumbing, and an ancient hair dryer. Our bed was uncomfortable and the pillows flat. There was no bottled water, phone to call reception, or slippers in the room. A bathrobe and iron were available only if requested. There was no luggage help or bell staff, and it seemed like one person was running the whole place. No amenities or business services at all. Breakfast was poor quality, often stale, and things ran out no matter when we arrived.

The breakfast was very good, and most of the staff were kind and helpful. We liked the place and would stay again, though it’s about a 10-minute walk to the town center. After dark, we were glad to have a flashlight for the walk back from dinner. I’m not sure what earns it four stars, since there aren’t many extra services. A few small annoyances: our room had just one little trash can, which wasn’t enough for us, and the toilet paper came in tiny individual sheets, smaller than a Kleenex tissue. They worked, but the size was odd. The repeated music in the breakfast room and lounge/snack bar was maddening too. It was familiar songs turned into elevator music by artists we’d never heard of, and the same few tracks kept coming around.
