Hotel Virgen de Covadonga

The rates were reasonable, and the hotel was modern and clean. The rooms are on the small side and fairly basic, but the price felt fair. There's secure underground parking. I think the hotel has some religious connection, but that's up to each person.

The location was the only thing I liked. Check-in wasn't until 4 PM, much too late for me, and no one had told or informed us about that. Our basic room was somewhat dirty, and the phone had a thick layer of dust on it. Breakfast was simple. I wouldn't recommend the hotel. They should take better care of the place and their guests.

The service was a bright spot. The staff were friendly, quick, and attentive, including at reception. I had to go to the desk every day to get my key card activated because it wouldn't let me in. We also had a few dinners at the hotel. They were decent, nothing special. We stayed three nights, and I hadn't expected such a large, modern hotel. It's very centrally located by the Roman bridge, on pedestrian streets with restaurants and shops. The rooms aren't big, but mine was comfortable and quiet even though it faced the main street. You can hear people in other rooms, though, and I found it a bit dusty. Cleaning was just adequate, and the towels were small and poor quality. The bathroom was on the small side too, but at least it had a shower. The shampoo and shower gel packets were especially inconvenient. Breakfast was standard but did the job. The coffee was good, the juice was alright, and the pastries were mass-produced and packaged, though I didn't expect more from a 3-star hotel. The Wi-Fi worked well, and there's a small but well-equipped gym. It wasn't bad overall, and I'd stay again at a reasonable price. It's fine for a couple of days while visiting the area.

The rooms are comfortable and met expectations, but the restaurant was an enormous disappointment. The food was low quality, portions were small, and the variety was so limited it was hard to enjoy meals. Service from the waiter was poor too, without the attention or friendliness you'd expect at a hotel. The drinks were worse still. The wine tasted like powder and was unpleasant. We ended up hungry, and the food experience spoiled the stay. I left thinking, “I didn't believe it.” Incredibly bad.
