Apartamentos Canyamel Classic

We had a great few days away. The pool entertainment was easily the best part of the hotel, and Juma, the entertainment guy, was five star. He kept our whole family happy. The pool and gym were highlights too. Some of the staff were okay.

Juma made the trip for us. He was a great laugh and got everyone having a good time. The hotel was lovely, the food was great, and the all inclusive drinks were good too, with lots of options.

The hotel sits on a beautiful bay, and our room had a sea view, but there's not much to do there. We had a car and went out every day. It worked as a good base for nearby resorts and towns. The staff were good overall, but the hotel needs refurbishment. One lift was broken for the whole week. Water pressure in the rooms was inconsistent, so getting a steady shower temperature was really difficult. Our room was dated, and small insects that looked like mosquitoes kept coming in through a little bathroom window onto the balcony. We like to watch TV at night after exploring, and brought a USB stick, but the old TV wouldn't play it. There was no casting from devices and barely anything to watch. I did manage to retune it to get some channels, but the TV needs upgrading too. For a four star hotel, the restaurant lacked quality and variety. The griddle and carvery were across the terrace, where two chefs were chatting instead of cooking meat fresh to order. It was cooked in batches and cold. There weren't any service staff at dinner. When I asked for drinks, a member of the clearing staff told me it was self service. We were only half board, so that was a bonus, but it felt odd.

The hotel was really good, and our room had a lovely sea view. Juma from entertainment was really lovely and made us feel welcome. There's not much in the area, but it's a good spot for a relaxing holiday.
