Hotel Pico Velasco

The team’s warm, attentive way with guests and the restaurant’s culinary delights are what make PICO VELASCO special. It’s a quiet private retreat for unwinding, but also a memorable place for business events, music, art, fashion, and awards. Set in a nature reserve, the historic listed building pairs striking modern architecture with a simple, restrained style and high quality throughout. Always worth a visit.

The setting alone is hard to forget, perched above the mouth of the anson river. This historic rustic house-palace has been updated with a steel and concrete cube inside, and somehow the modern addition fits the traditional architecture perfectly. Angus beef comes from cows grazing in the surrounding meadows. I came for the Michelin star style menu from acclaimed, starred chef Solana, and the views, service, and food all worked together beautifully. The dishes were sophisticated without going too far. It already has a Repsol Sol, and I suspect an actual star may come before long. If you want that kind of experience without paying the full price, don’t miss the opportunity.

The tasting menu was exceptional, so make sure to book it. The staff were friendly and professional, and the place was very comfortable, with a modern building set inside a historic one.

The location is perfect, and this is a great gastronomic hotel. I loved the restaurant’s Sinzio taste menu, and the à la carte breakfast menu is unbeatable.
