Hospedería Nuestra Señora del Carmen

We had a guided tour with one of the monks, who explained the history and showed us the many interesting historic rooms and objects on the premises. There's also a church there and a quiet garden with seating at the back. The place has a lot of character and is a great choice if you want to stay somewhere a bit different, though it's definitely not a five-star hotel. The monks still run it, and the atmosphere is calm and peaceful. Rooms are fairly basic, but the air conditioning is good, towels are fresh, and cleaning is done to a good standard. Early risers can use the free coffee and drinks machine downstairs. Breakfast is a buffet of cold foods with toast and good coffee. Parking is plentiful, and the location is very good, about five minutes on foot from the main Plazas, shops, and restaurants. Service was always polite, helpful, and courteous. Recommended.

Breakfast with the monks was a memorable part of the stay. I also joined some services and religious activities at nearby churches, and felt welcome. It gave me a real glimpse into Carmelite life. I'm a frequent traveller, and the facilities here were excellent: clean, organized, up-to-date amenities, and above all, peaceful. This was one of my best stays. I'd recommend adding it to a pilgrimage through Spain. Even if you're not on pilgrimage, it's a good place to stay if you want to meet local people and learn about Spanish culture.

We stayed in an old monastery, which made for a very interesting visit. The rooms were basic but very clean, and the location was handy for walking around town. Dinner was very good and reasonably priced, with wine included.

A quiet, beautiful hotel right in central Caravaja de la cruz. The staff were wonderful, and breakfast was the best I've ever had. Highly recommended.
