Cortijo La Algallumbilla

The warm welcome was a highlight: the house was ready for us with the fireplace already lit. It’s a magical place in the mountains, with lots of hiking trails starting nearby, plus two donkeys, a pool, barbecue, and oven for time with family and friends. A pleasure to meet people like this. Thanks so much, we’ll definitely be back!

It’s a quiet place with no neighbors close by, so we were able to relax. The surroundings are pleasant, and there are a couple of donkeys to see. The bedrooms are spacious, the beds are decent, and every bedroom has air conditioning. The living room, though, is pretty uncomfortable. If you’re visiting in winter and want to spend time indoors comfortably, I wouldn’t recommend it. Cleaning was basic: the sheets and towels were clean, and there’d been a superficial clean. But under the chairs there were so many cobwebs it was practically a spider’s nest, and the ceiling was covered in them too. The pool also needs proper maintenance. The water looked greasy, and the edges were crumbling from lack of upkeep. If you’re afraid of insects, be aware there are loads of them, including spiders. That’s obviously not the owner’s fault, but thousands of flies get in and keep bothering everyone. The windows need mosquito nets.

Casti’s hospitality was wonderful, and the farmhouse was spotless and very well maintained. The surroundings are beautiful. We went rafting on the Genil River, then spent a few days unwinding with friends and enjoying the pool, wood-fired oven, barbecue, and terraces. Everything was perfect. The best place for a rural getaway, and we’ll definitely be back!

We had a great time at this welcoming country house, even on a rainy weekend. It’s got everything for a few days with family or friends: pool, playground, garden, terraces, wood-fired oven, and barbecue. The surroundings are lovely too. We’d like to return and enjoy all the outdoor spaces in better weather.
