Hostal Cachiño

We only ate at the restaurant, not at the hotel. The service was excellent, the food fantastic, and the octopus was wonderful.

The hostel is in a very peaceful spot, with Lira and Carnota beaches close by and plenty of opportunity to explore this part of the Rías Baixas. We spent two weeks there and felt at home. Our room was very clean, and the white towels were fluffy. Lola was a wonderful host. Thanks as well to Chus, Lucía, and the rest of the team working in the restaurant below the hostel. The food and service were excellent. We highly recommend it :)

The only real drawback was the noise from adjoining rooms, which carried quite a bit. Still, it's a pleasant place for a getaway: close to the main beaches, with easy parking nearby and a restaurant in the same building. The rooms are nice and have all the amenities. Staff are attentive and happy to suggest things to visit. We'll definitely return.

The most frustrating part was trying to order dessert and coffee after our meal. By then the restaurant was busier, and after a couple of tries to get someone's attention, we were told they were overwhelmed. We eventually ordered, got the coffees first, then waited around 20 minutes for dessert. The cheesecakes were so bad we left half of them. I finally went inside to pay, and the waiter checked the bill with me: €80. We arrived at 1:30 pm. At first things seemed fine, though service already looked slow. The stewed meat croquettes tasted like nothing, the scallops were decent, the tripe was good, and the entrecote wasn't bad. We left at 4:00 pm. Then, once we were at the caravan, the waiter ran over and nearly jumped into the vehicle to say he'd forgotten to charge for the desserts, even though they were already on the bill. We were stunned: he hadn't had time to take orders, but found time to chase us for something we'd paid for. The one good thing is that dogs are allowed on the terrace.
