Carthago Suites

The bed linen and towels had a strong mildew smell, and the host never even replied. Dust was everywhere, including in areas that looked like they hadn't been cleaned for months. I've attached photos.

The towels were so musty they weren't really usable, especially for personal hygiene. We also found a lot of dust in suite 3, which was a problem because my partner is allergic, plus hairballs scattered around the room. The toaster wouldn't work without tripping the breaker, and the kitchen outlets looked like this had happened before. I've seen plenty of reviews like mine, and I'm giving one star only because I can't give less. We definitely won't return to any of their accommodations.

The bed's plastic mattress cover made noise whenever I moved, waking me up halfway through the building. The whole apartment was pretty dirty, even the entrance doormat was embarrassing, and the furniture was in terrible shape. It's divided into three "suites," and we had suite 3 for one night, thank goodness. The place was damp and badly damaged. I've attached photos from April 22, 2025.

There are no street signs to point you to this 'supposed hostel', and there's no reception desk if something goes wrong. You also can't get anyone on WhatsApp or by phone, at least I couldn't, and they never answer. I hope they respond here so other people can see what happened. I booked for September 20th and tried to cancel on the 6th. Booking.com said cancellation was free until midnight that day. They asked why, then said it didn't count as force majeure, so apparently I couldn't cancel. On the night of the 20th, I said I'd arrive around 10 PM and asked for check-in instructions. They told me my room was canceled but occupied, even though nobody had told me it was canceled. I've been waiting for at least a 35% refund ever since, but they clearly don't intend to pay it. They kept my money and left the canceled reservation for the 20th in place without telling the people who actually made it. I find that incredibly incompetent. I have no choice but to go to the police station and ask what can be done. I hope you never book with them, and don't end up in the same situation I did.
