Montemares Golf Luxury Villas and Apartments

The service was terrible, and the apartment was awful. They’ve lost a repeat customer. Although the place is called Montemares, its apartments are in other developments within La Manga Club. I booked through a website, which said to contact the property at least a week ahead. My stay began on a Friday, so I started calling the previous Monday, but nobody answered. I had more luck on Tuesday and spoke to Anna, apparently the manager. She said she’d put us in El Pinar. I asked for Montemares because we’d stayed there several times and liked it, but she persuaded me that El Pinar was nice and had good views. She sent check-in instructions by WhatsApp. On Friday I went to the apartment she’d sent me details for, but it wasn’t ours and the key wasn’t there. I called Anna countless times without an answer. Fortunately, I already knew the area and where the office was. We went there and caught the accountant as she was leaving. She was very helpful, listened to what had happened, and called the manager, who didn’t answer either. The accountant came with us to the apartment. Sure enough, that one was reserved for someone else, and ours was in a different place. Once we got inside, the apartment was nothing like the advertised luxury place. It was small, with old furniture, dirty walls, and a bad smell. To reach the pool we had to go outside and into another block of buildings. We had no key for the communal gate, so if a neighbor locked their door, we wouldn’t be able to get in or out of the building. A huge disappointment. I tried the number they’d given us and got no answer there either. The booking website did respond when I contacted them about the problem. They gave me the real estate agency’s phone number, but it was the same one that hadn’t answered my calls. I told the man at the website, and he called Anna. She answered him. I finally spoke to her and explained everything, then asked to change apartments or get a refund. She said there were no more apartments available. I left that “non-luxury” apartment and got my money back, but the damage was already done.
