Hostal Patrón

Super!!!

The sofa bed in the replacement room was in really poor shape, with an extremely uncomfortable spring mattress. The pillows were dirty and had hair on them, which showed a lack of care and hygiene. This came after the booking issue: we’d been allowed to reserve a double room with free accommodation for our 4-year-old, but once we’d paid without a free cancellation option, the property said we’d need to pay extra for a bed for the child, or all three of us would have to share a bed just 1.35 metres wide. We found that unacceptable and misleading, and the property wasn’t willing to find a suitable solution. In the end, we had to complain, and Booking.com covered the price difference for an upgrade to a triple room. Even then, the room still had the sofa bed problem.

The service was very friendly 👏. The room was great, with a comfortable bed, clean linens and a bathroom with a perfect shower.

We gave our parents a VIP gift box because they wanted to stay in Castañares. Yesterday we called the hostel to book for them. It took several tries to get through, and the man who answered said they had rooms available. But when we mentioned the VIP gift box, he said, and I quote, “No, VIP gift box only gives us one...” and hung up. We called back to say that wasn’t an acceptable way to handle it, and he hung up again. We’ve never seen that kind of discourtesy and disrespect from a hotel. We’ve filed a complaint with VIP gift box so they know about the behavior and the impression their partner establishments give.
