The beach, shops and plenty of restaurants are all close by. Our family room was spacious and had proper beds instead of a sofa bed. Breakfast was nice, though I missed having fried eggs and the coffee wasn’t good.

The location is excellent, and the reception and breakfast staff were professional and courteous. It was good value for money. The room could use a little renovation: the furniture felt tired, and the traditional key lock gave it less character than it could have. The bathroom was spacious, but some grout looked mouldy and the bathtub was marked, which didn’t feel quite up to a three-star standard. The family rooms are rather small for a longer stay, with little room to unpack since the wardrobe also holds the mini fridge and safe. I would have given it five stars if the condition had been better.

We came back for a second visit, my daughter and I, and again found the location handy, with shops and the beach nearby. The room was cleaned daily, the service was great and the pool stayed clean. It was quiet enough that we could relax comfortably. Our room had no balcony, and it was quite small, with a tiny, dark window facing a wall. On Friday night, a room overlooking the street could get noisy.

The pool stayed uncrowded even on a midsummer weekend. A few times around midday, we had it to ourselves. Our room was quiet and peaceful, and the staff were wonderful. Everything is an easy walk from the hotel. Try the ice-cream shop straight ahead on the way to the main street, the raspberry sorbet is killer. Great price too, and I’d happily come back.

My room had no view at all, so I couldn’t see the sun. I’d booked a courtyard-facing room hoping for some quiet, but there was nothing to look out at. There are better choices for this price.
