Silken Platja d'Aro

The location worked really well, about a five-minute walk to the beach and close to shopping centres and lots of good restaurants. The staff were welcoming. I wasn’t happy with the bed, though, it was noisy and uncomfortable, and the cleaners didn’t change the sheets when they cleaned the room. Breakfast was just okay. I liked the cakes best, but wish they offered omelettes.

Friendly service, and breakfast had plenty of variety for a very good price. The hotel was very clean and had been renovated recently. The rooms themselves are on the small side, even though the bathroom block is huge; I’d rather have a bigger room. The WiFi was atrocious, under one megabit per second.

We had a calm, relaxing short stay in this lovely newer hotel. We didn’t have a room facing the pool. The location is great, and a special thanks to Jenny at reception for helping us with the little inconveniences.

The stay was very unpleasant, and we won’t come back. I called ahead because we had two children, and was told booking the deluxe room for our family would be fine. At check-in, the desk clerk said the booking department shouldn’t have accepted it because the room was for three people max. He said the sofa bed was broken, so our youngest would have to sleep between us. After an argument, we were given a baby crib instead. The air conditioning also didn’t work properly. We spent two nights in a room at 25.5 degrees because it shut off whenever we left, and it was centrally controlled, so we couldn’t change that. Coming back from dinner to a hot room wasn’t comfortable. I also found it ridiculous to charge the full breakfast price for both kids, when even fancy restaurants offer reduced rates for children. This was a one-time visit. We’ve never had an experience like this in a four-star hotel.
