The staff were good, and the location near the beach was great. The facilities, including the laundry, were good too. But getting parked was awful at first: the camping pitches were so tight, with low branches and a narrow approach, that we couldn't fit. We had to try two other pitches before squeezing into one. The site is all clay sand, which gets stuck everywhere and clings to everything. The biting insects were bad as well, though the place is surrounded by wetlands.

We spent 10 nights here in August, our small family with a 4 year old, touring in a caravan all the way from the UK. We had a FANTASTIC holiday at Castell Mar, and would highly recommend it. The site is close to a fabulous beach, as well as Empuriabrava and Roses. We loved the pool and used it every day. Sunbeds cost €2.2 per day. The bar and restaurant are good value, and the food is great. There's professional entertainment every night, and the standard is really high. The shop on site is great, too. The shower block deserves a mention: modern, spotless, and with powerful showers. There's even a designated area for infants with baths for young children, something we'd never seen before. The only small downside was the pitches, which are a bit rough around the edges, somewhat dusty, with barely-there dividing hedges. It's the Mediterranean, though, and I can cope. The guests were mainly French, Spanish, Dutch, and German, with a few British, Belgian, and Italian visitors. Our little family had the best time on our precious summer holiday, and hope you do too.

Especially if you have dogs, this is a lovely place. Every member of staff was kind and helpful, from reception and hospitality to the gardeners. They all work hard to keep the whole place nice. Thank you.

The dog beach is a 10-15 minute walk from the campsite, and there's even a little swimming pool for dogs. The restaurant has a dog menu, too. Prices are fair, and there's a supermarket and restaurant on site. We stayed with our camper and two dogs. The campground is split into two areas, one for tents and campers and another for bungalow rentals. The modern showers and toilets are very nice and clean. The internet was the only thing I didn't really like, though it could use some improvement.

We probably wouldn't return, though it was okay for a couple of nights. The staff, especially at reception, were extremely friendly and lovely, and my dog had a good time. The dog pool was great, and the field where he could run was appreciated. Some owners seemed to think dog friendly meant letting their dogs off lead, and they came aggressively up to my little dog. The dog beach is a decent walk away, which is annoying when the human-only beach is so close and empty. We had a large pitch, massive in fact, but a blumin spiky tree right in the middle made it challenging to get our big motorhome on and off, which is why we'd requested a large pitch. This site is okay, but more expensive than other Spanish sites because they don't take ACSI. Food and drinks at the bar felt quite expensive, as there's nothing around and they have a captive audience. We went to lie by the pool, but only a bored lifeguard was there, and they seemed to charge extra for sunbeds. There were loads piled up, with no one using them. We didn't like that, so went to the beach instead. Later a woman lay on her towel on the concrete rather than pay, which seemed mean of the site.
