Cortijo el Plantío - La Casa Grande

We only stayed one night, but it was beautiful, clean, and cozy, with friendly staff. It’s close to everything, and the quiet setting and views make it a nice place to relax. It’s self-catering, with the option to barbecue, and in summer you can have a private swimming pool. We’ll definitely return.

We had great service at Casa El Mirador. The views are beautiful, and the balcony is spectacular for a barbecue. There’s a children’s park two minutes away on foot, and the river footbridges are five minutes away. We just wished there were a pantry for our food and a coat rack in that huge hallway. 😀

The one-bedroom rural house was simple but had what we needed, and the owners kept it clean and well maintained. We spent several days at the Plantío complex, in a quiet natural setting about 1 km from the center of Castril de la Peña, close to the river, recreation area, and municipal pool. There are several hikes in the Natural Park, including the easy 3.5 km Cerrada del Río Castril Footbridge Trail and the roughly 6 km Castril River Source Trail.

We often spend weekends in different rural houses, and nothing about this complex stood out in a good way. For a stay of a few days, it was missing too many basics, including a dishwasher, oven, hygiene products, bleach, and other supplies for decent day-to-day living. The comfort was also a major problem. Their 2:00 PM check-in and 12:00 PM checkout felt like a way to delay our arrival so they could clean after the previous guests and let the next ones in, charging two different guests for the same day. It caused a really lamentable inconvenience. We won’t return, but future guests should know. The owners need to provide more amenities, or I see a bleak future for them.
