La Vieja Estación

There’s a real sense of peace here, with lovely grounds and a wonderful porch for enjoying outdoor activities with the family. The place was once the old Otañes train station stop, and its history gives you a feeling of traveling through the past. These days it’s a stopping place for travelers and pilgrims, a route for livestock farmers, and a peaceful refuge. We had a lovely time as a family.

The setting is idyllic, with spectacular views of the mountains and all that greenery. Parking is very limited, though. A few of us came for a birthday party and we missed having more space to park.

Pets were welcome, which was essential for us, and staying here with family was a lovely experience. This charming place sits in nature right on the northern route of the Camino de Santiago. The host treats every guest with such kindness that he feels like an old friend. Sendoa shared his dream with us for a few days, and there are special little touches he offers that I’ll leave for you to discover. I highly recommend coming to enjoy this home with family, pets included.

The owners, Sendoa and Silvia, are fantastic and keep the house spotless, with thoughtful details throughout. It’s a restored old train station with several bedrooms and a charming shared space, right beside a greenway where you can walk under the trees and take in incredible views. Simply perfect, an amazing place. 100% recommended.
