Albergue Rosalia

We had the whole attic to ourselves, with all the beds on the lower level. The pilgrim meal was lovely and carefully made, and there was AC. It’s right at the end of Casteojeriz, so getting out in the morning was quick. There was a great sunny spot for hanging washing, too. A perfect little Albergue.

The beds are low and the atmosphere is nice, with a central location. It was a good stop and a decent experience, though I found it a bit expensive and think there are better options nearby. There weren’t enough bathrooms for the number of people, and the space to dry clothes was tiny. Breakfast felt far too meagre for the price: low-quality industrial muffins, coffee, and industrial orange juice. Dinner was okay, but please don’t serve overcooked pasta in a “vegetarian paella style.” You can do better.

They served an early breakfast from 5am, which was amazing for me as an early starter. The host was welcoming, the atmosphere warm, and the albergue was clean, with great beds, no bunks, and fresh cotton linen. The lady made a lovely dinner of hummus, pasta salad, grilled chicken, chocolate ice cream, and wine. A very nice albergue in Castrojeriz, highly recommended if you’re here.

On July 11, 2024, I found bedbugs. The staff denied it and were mean about it. They showed me a photo on their phone of a completely different bug and said that was the one, as if they were telling me the sky was red. I showed them actual bugs, and they immediately grabbed them, threw them on the floor, and said not to worry. I think they knew they were bedbugs. The guy running the place got in my face and repeatedly asked, “What is your job? What is your job?” He said I couldn’t possibly know what a bedbug looked like because my job didn’t involve them the way his did. I asked for a refund so I could go somewhere else, but they refused. I posted pictures on several internet forums, and every response said they were bedbugs.
