La Posada de Castrojeriz

A nice place to stop on the Camino. The hotel was clean, and the meals across the street were very good. Oscar, the innkeeper, was a really nice host.

The only thing I'd change is the Wi-Fi in the room, which could be better. Oscar was a wonderful host, and the hotel is clean and well situated. I had lunch, dinner, and breakfast at the adjoining restaurant, and everything was terrific.

I went to Hotel Jacobus down the street instead, where Ana gave me a warm welcome. I stayed there for two nights while I recovered. This happened on my second day on the Camino, which I had started in Burgos. I had a bad cold and a fever by the time I reached Castrojeriz, so I wanted a private room to recover and avoid infecting other pilgrims rather than stay in the albergue. At La Posada, nobody was at the front desk, just a note asking me to call Oscar. When I did, he refused me service and laughed and mocked me. I could hear a woman laughing too. They clearly didn't need my business, even though it was shoulder season and there weren't many travelers around.

The interior was so beautiful, with quiet rooms, a calming lounge, and an incredible library. It felt like home, and I had my best night on the Camino in this quality place. I wish I could've stayed longer.
