The room was spacious, with a great bed, a roomy balcony, and even a large tapestry on the wall opposite the bed. The bathroom was spacious too. We had rich midday sun right through sunset, made even warmer by the room’s deep yellow color. Pedro said the estate sits on a plateau high above the bay and ocean, and used to be full of trees. This magical hotel was built in 1902 by an Indianos. There’s a 2005 NY Times article about it, "In Old Asturias. a Legacy from the New World", though the hotel now has an elevator. I’m not sure they’d hosted cyclists before, but Pedro quickly found a secure indoor place for them. There are plenty of staff compared with the number of guests, and they’re exceptionally keen to help with everything. It wasn’t the cheapest place we stayed on our North Camino ride, but arguably the best value.

The location is wonderfully peaceful, set in two beautiful colonial-style mansions, and breakfast has several delicious homemade options. María José looked after us exceptionally well, with close attention to every detail and a very personal touch. We had a wonderful stay. Congratulations to the whole team, we’ll be back!

The breakfasts were elaborate, delicious, and incredibly varied, and the staff were all competent and friendly. María José especially was involved and dedicated to everything. Pepe at the restaurant in the port made us smile several times and even laugh out loud. The food there is also highly recommended, with excellent ingredients and preparation. The buildings are wonderful, with a beautiful garden, and the inside is even more impressive. Our room was bright and spacious, the beds very comfortable, and the linens charming. The bathroom was huge, and the lamb-themed decor tied everything together. We can’t wait to come back. Thank you.

Over my 6-day stay, I noticed new details every day and enjoyed the hotel more as time went on. Breakfast is served in a beautiful lounge, dining room, and gallery, with piano music. It was plentiful, high quality, completely homemade, and very varied. The room was lovely, with magnificent views of the estuary and Castropol, and a very comfortable bed. The two distinctive buildings mix colonial and modernist styles, and Figueras itself is beautiful and peaceful, with open, welcoming people. You can walk from the hotel to Arnau and Peñarronda beaches. ALL THE STAFF WERE EXCEPTIONAL, especially Maria José and Lina.

The staff were kind and caring, and everything was meticulously looked after. The person in charge of breakfast was especially friendly. I loved the careful modernist decor, from the beginning of the 19th century. A wonderful hotel if you enjoy 1912 Indiano houses and this kind of architecture.
