The Chapel of Our Lady of L'Avella is beautiful, and it’s worth spending a few euros to light it up. It looks wonderful at any time, day or night. The door seems shut, but it’s actually always open, so knock hard and give the lock a good whack!

It’s a magnificent setting that could be a peaceful haven, like other nearby chapels in the Maestrat region. Instead, the spa owners have made it a music terrace all day, so visitors and residents have to hear their music blaring outside. If you’re after peace and quiet, this isn’t the place. Is anyone at the town hall going to do something?

A wonderful artistic spot tucked away in a sparsely populated area. There are signs with dates, but no basic guide to explain why it’s there or what’s on display, especially for people who don’t already know. In winter, everything is closed except the fountain.
