Oh Nice Ulises Ceuta

The hot shower wasn't working, so maintenance had to come fix it. Check-in was odd too: I spent nearly 20 minutes trying to find the entrance and reception before someone told me the desk was somewhere else. The location itself is great.

The elevator broke on our first day, and the trip up to the third floor could take around 30 minutes. The place smelled very bad, cleanliness was poor, and there was no Wi-Fi. We were also moved to a room with a window after asking to leave the first one, which felt like a prison cage with no view of the outside world. The second room had no air conditioning, though at least we could see outside. If we needed to report a problem, we had to leave the building and walk up the slope to Hotel Ulysse. After three trips back and forth, I felt as if I might have a heart attack. Then, after being awake since 2 a.m. following a nightmare, my sister and I heard a strange knocking sound in the room. It continued after I switched off the very noisy fan. The bedside light flickered and then went out completely. We didn't sleep at all and left the room. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. The building's layout reminded me of a psychiatric hospital. I can't understand how they call it a three-star hotel; it doesn't deserve even one. I'm telling the truth, though you're free to believe me or not.

The location is fantastic for shopping, and the rooms are alright. The Wi-Fi was horrible, though. Internet is generally much better in Morocco, which says a lot. Staff weren't helpful or friendly.

Revellín Ceuta Hotel has a cozy feel and somewhat stylish decor, with above-average accommodation and some amenities. It's right in central Ceuta, a Spanish autonomous city in North Africa, and close to sights such as the historic Revellín Fortress. There are two buildings about 100 metres apart. The cafeteria and reception are in the main one, so if you're staying in the other building, you have to walk over to collect the door passes. My non-smoking room smelled of cigarettes, and the street nearby got noisy until 4 a.m. on the weekend.
