Hotel Mariantonia

The house made a good first impression, but our double room was tiny and we could hardly fit our things in. It was noisy all around, and every time we came back the room stank of cigarette smoke. The air conditioning didn’t work, and we couldn’t leave the door open because of the noise. We didn’t stay for breakfast and got as much of a refund as possible. Don’t bother coming here if you want to sleep, we didn’t get any.

We paid 350eur for two nights for my birthday weekend and got the suite with the jacuzzi. It wasn’t a jacuzzi, just a bathtub placed on the terrace. The first night we found five cockroaches in the room. The bathroom, and really the whole suite, smelled strongly of sewage. The fridge didn’t cool, and the walls were so thin we heard every conversation from the neighbours as well as street noise. A socket came away from the wall, and some of the decoration fell off too. We told management about all of it. They said the townhall had fumigated the streets and it wasn’t their fault. When we asked if they could accommodate us somehow, all we got was a simple sorry and a shrug. I can’t recommend this place and definitely won’t return. 350eur for two nights isn’t cheap.

Such a shame, because the hotel is comfortable, clean, and in a really nice location. But a disco next door played all night and only stopped at 7 am, so we didn’t sleep at all. We were meant to stay tonight too, but it’s impossible. I hope they refund our money.

Spotlessly clean, with a great pool, and close to amenities. Nothing is too much trouble. It could use an automatic drinks dispenser.
