Hostal Chinchon

I stopped here on my way to Andalusia, and after my stay I wanted to take a few minutes to write this as a small tribute to the hardworking woman behind the place. It reflects the sacrifice, perseverance, and values of so many self-employed people in this country. The location is hard to beat, just a few meters from the main square, one of the town’s biggest attractions. The rooms were spotless and, for a hostel, better than many hotel rooms. You can see how much care goes into every detail, and the owner handles nearly everything herself. When I arrived at around 9:00 PM, she was at reception with a smile, even though she’d been working since 6:00 AM. That says a lot about her effort and commitment. I’d chosen the hostel because of its very good reviews, and after staying there, I completely understood why.

The terrace has wonderful views of the square, the castle, the church, and the Parador de Chinchón. The pool is right in the heart of Chinchón, just steps from the main square, and we think this may be the only accommodation there with a pool. We’ve been coming back for years for the quality and Belén’s warm, charming hospitality. The bathrooms have been renovated and are spotless, the towels and linens are high quality and smell lovely, and the beds are very comfortable. There are thoughtful touches throughout, including antique lamps, plenty of plants, and period furniture. The decor is tasteful and practical. It’s somewhere we always want to return to.

We had a wonderful weekend and made the most of the pool. Our host, Belen, was a lovely person and made the stay so enjoyable, a 10 out of 10. The hostel is welcoming and perfectly located beside the main square, with plenty of restaurants nearby. Definitely recommended.

The room they gave me was spacious and clean, and the service was very friendly. It’s a nice hostel, well located close to Plaza Mayor, and the price was very good, though I was there on a weekday in March, well outside peak season. The only letdown was breakfast: for four euros I got a capsule coffee with milk and half a slice of toast with olive oil.
