Hotel Rural Haras Aritza

The owners are so sweet and helpful, and the home itself feels majestic and peaceful. We had one of the best nights of sleep of our whole trip. The rooms aren’t luxurious, but the bed was comfortable, opening the windows cooled the room down really well, and the shower had great pressure. You do have to hold the handle up. It’s a great place to stay when visiting Picos de Europa, especially for the amazing price, and I’m so glad we stayed.

The attic rooms have spectacular views in every direction, and there are plenty of scenic hill walks nearby if you’re up for exploring. It’s a lovely family-run B&B in beautiful rural surroundings. The owners welcomed me warmly, even bringing home-grown fruit and hot water for afternoon tea when I asked. They were always keen to help, despite not speaking English and my poor Spanish. Potes centre is 2 km downhill, quite a walk, though I enjoyed doing it several times. The furnishings and bathroom fittings are simple, clean, and nicely arranged. I really enjoyed my 4-day stay. The mattress could use a topper to soften the springs. I’d recommend it for groups and solo travellers, especially horse lovers.

The accommodation was amazing, and they made the four of us very welcome when we turned up by motorcycle looking for somewhere to stay. A special mention for the peacock wandering around, and the Hawks and Falcons ignoring what their owners wanted. Highly recommended!

After 10 nights here, I can say it’s one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. The staff were friendly, the beds were clean and comfortable, and the scenery was beautiful. Can’t wait to come back next year.
