Galdana Palms

We spent 4 nights in apartment 2, second from the left on the back row, and it was peaceful with lovely sun. In early September the pool still got sun until 6 pm, though the front apartments had it a little longer. Trees behind the building shaded it in the late afternoon, which cooled the place nicely. At 30c we only needed the Aircon for an hour before bed. The apartment was comfortable and the kitchen had good equipment, including BBQ supplies. There was a little charcoal left, so we bought a bag at Lidl and left what remained. That supermarket worked well for stocking up before we went to the apartment. We collected the car after a short shuttle bus ride from the airport to the hire place, all included with Owners Cars. The villas are a good choice if you want a level walk to the beach and resort centre. The only hill is a short 30 yards up the private road to the back apartments, where a few parking spaces are tight but usable. You can also park on the road out front, though beach visitors fill it during the day. The road itself isn’t busy and clears out at night. This end was very peaceful, with no late bar noise, and would suit families with young children or anyone wanting quiet. Across the small river there’s a forest view, and we heard wildlife and often saw Booted eagles, Kestrel, kites and Warblers. A nice bonus if you like birds and nature. Restaurants start about five minutes down the road towards the centre, which takes around 10 minutes at an average pace. It’s flat compared with the steep hills or steps elsewhere. There are plenty of places to eat along the valley, mostly on one side, and the clean beach is across the road and river. A couple of bridges lead to the sand and sea, where there are boards and peddle boat hire. The River Bar is close by and serves IPA, while many other places only had lagers. My ladies liked the cocktails, so we’d stop for a drink or two after eating. It wasn’t a loud pub, and had videos, good background music, table football, darts and a pool table. It seemed safe for families, including mid to older teenagers who might want to head there if bored. The whole resort felt safe, and the island was clean and tidy, remarkably better than the UK, where I live on the edge of The New Forest. The roads were generally in good condition too. If you’ve never been to Menorca, I’d definitely consider it, and these villas suit everyone from individuals to young families. Enjoy!

The pool area was fine, and both the beach and restaurants were conveniently close. The villas are in a quiet spot, with parking available, though the spaces are very tight, mainly because of the large SUVs. The kitchen basics were limited, and several pans were quite scratched. The pictures were misleading at first, making the places look detached. They’re actually terraced houses built next to each other, separated by a wall, though each has its own pool. The layout was okay, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms, but one bathroom is part of the main bedroom, which wasn’t ideal. The walls are thin, so you can hear the neighbors clearly.
