Hotel Gran Sagitario

The indoor pool and spa area was beautiful and relaxing, and there’s a decent gym with a few cardio machines and some light free weights. The hotel is modern, good quality 4*, and tucked away in a quiet part of Menorca. Rooms were spacious, airy and bright, with modern decor. The half board breakfast and dinner buffet had a wide selection and was good quality. The hotel was kept pristine and well maintained, with cleaners working hard to keep the white floors spotless. It was perhaps too quiet for families, as it seemed more aimed at adults and couples, though my son enjoyed the stay anyway. The local area was also very quiet. We went at the end of the season in October, when many places were closing or winding down and bus services were limited.

We tried the gran sagitorio this year after staying at petit sagitario last year. I’m writing this while we wait sadly for our airport transfer. It’s been another fantastic, relaxing stay. The evening meals are the best I’ve ever had at a hotel, and everywhere looks clean and new. Staff are brilliant, always smiling and ready to help. Thank you to all of them, we hope to see you again. My only gripe isn’t with the hotel. Some guests drag the sun loungers around and leave them there, so the maintenance staff have to put them back every evening. I’m sure they have more important things to do.

The food was excellent, with a wide choice and consistently high quality. The chefs clearly take pride in it, though the restaurant needs a dinner drinks menu. Evening entertainment was a nice surprise, with singers much better than expected. The hotel is in a fantastic spot, a small beach just 2 minutes away on foot, restaurants and the caves within 15 minutes, and Ciutadella about 20 minutes by taxi, costing €6-8. For the return, go to the taxi rank by Plaça dels Pins, the park. Gran Sagitario is fairly small, so it never feels crowded, and it’s immaculate. The cleaning team deserves a shout-out. Our bed was comfortable and the room a good size, with a walk in shower. Staff were friendly and attentive. I had a great chat with the manager, Esteban, who came across as a top-notch manager and host. I shared feedback, which he took on board, and hopefully future guests will get more transparency before their stay. The main drawback is the indoor pool. One hour a day is free, then extra time costs €27 per day. Kids can use it only between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., though it’s open until 9 p.m. Babies and young kids under 4 aren’t allowed inside. Esteban said that when it’s quiet, guests may stay longer without charge, and that proved true for us: we stayed about 90 minutes extra more than once. The €1 charge each time you change your towel is a small annoyance. The English TV channels 32-38 in the room didn’t work. Esteban said he’d look into it, as a couple of other guests had mentioned it. It didn’t bother me because the TV has screen mirror, so you can watch your own content from a mobile or pad. For an adults only stay, Petit Hotel opposite is identical and has no kids. We’d book Gran Sagitario again 100%.

The pool area was beautiful and there were always plenty of loungers. We enjoyed excellent drinks and lunch from the pool bar. Breakfast was included, with loads of freshly prepared options and plenty of healthy choices. Having it on the restaurant balcony was a lovely way to start the day. Our room was comfortable and quiet, with good air conditioning, a great shower, a comfortable bed, daily cleaning and good soundproofing. I liked the hotel’s no-smoking policy, though it was a shame the guests next door chose to ignore it. Staff were professional, friendly and helpful, and we appreciated being able to collect clean towels daily for the pool or beach. Gran Sagitario in Menorca is in an excellent location: a 2-minute walk to the beach, about 15-20 minutes on foot to Cala Blanca, and under 10 minutes by taxi to Ciutadella. We stayed 5 nights and had a lovely time. We were very impressed, would highly recommend it, and will definitely return.
