Hotel Alfons

We stayed for the night we needed during our Cami de cavalls trip, and were happy with the hotel. The room was clean enough, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was fine for the price we paid. Happy with the stay.

For our 40th anniversary, my wife and I booked The Alfons Hotel Prague through our travel agent, who uses Bedsonline and recommended it. The description we'd received turned out to be completely misleading, and the stay was awful. The room was tiny, on the top floor, and had only a small pop-up window in the ceiling. The elevator stopped one floor short, leaving us to carry our luggage up 12 steep steps. I'd recently had knee surgery and asked for help, but none was available. The front desk person was rude and abrupt, and said the hotel was fully booked with no other room available. Our travel agent spoke with the desk and agreed there was a problem. He helped us book somewhere more suitable and said he'd report the issue to Bedsonline about the Alfonse Hotel. It took a couple of hours to find the new accommodation, costing us almost a day, and the replacement was $600 more for four nights. We sent a detailed report with names, details, and photos. More than two months later, after several follow-ups, Bedsonline eventually said it had investigated and closed the report, offering a 20% refund as a goodwill gesture. Nobody contacted us to discuss what happened. We never stayed at The Alfons after that experience, so they could rent out our room, but they still refused a refund to us or our agent. I only want the full amount we paid for the Alfons returned. I wouldn't recommend staying there, and I wouldn't book any travel through Bedsonline again.

The receptionist was the highlight: incredibly kind, quick to help, and responsive whenever we raised something. Breakfast was also lovely, fresh and varied, served in a nice space, and the location is excellent for getting to attractions, shops, and restaurants. The room looked nice at first, but the cleanliness was a real problem. There was black hair all over the floor when we arrived, more in the shower and under the bed, and black hairs came off the towel too. It left me wondering whether the sheets had been changed. The room also didn't seem well prepared: a lamp was broken and the bathroom shelf was damaged. This place has potential, but it needs to improve its cleaning and maintenance.

The food was amazing, with beautifully presented meals that were different every evening. Big applause to the chef and catering staff. Our stay was made especially good by the staff, particularly Willy and Guillermo, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their kindness and attention to detail really stood out. We'd happily return and highly recommend Alfons Hotel.
