Hotel Rural Sant Ignasi

The first room was on the second floor, smaller but cozy, with a beautiful view and a large bathroom. Later we moved to a larger deluxe standard room on the ground floor near the entrance. It had a lovely patio, but the bathroom was smaller and had no ventilation. Being right by the entrance brought constant noise and no privacy. We couldn’t leave the windows open without people looking in. The property is beautifully put together, and the rustic concrete entrance made a strong first impression. Check-in went smoothly, though it was unpleasant to hear the receptionist refer to my wife as “her.” In the room, there were no slippers, bathrobes, extra blankets, or summer duvet for the cool mid-September evenings. We asked for one the next day, but it never arrived. Breakfast had limited variety and wasn’t presented very well. Given the level of the establishment, we expected more effort. Menorca has plenty of excellent farm-to-table local products, and it would be lovely to see more of them featured. The property is beautiful, but we left somewhat dissatisfied and wanted more attention to detail and variety at breakfast.

We’ve returned three times in a row since the complete renovation in 2024, and were so taken with St Ignasi that we held our wedding there. We’re devoted Menorca fans and have stayed at and visited all the island’s premium hotels. The rooms, buildings, and pool are beautiful and elegant, with an authentic, understated luxury. Tucked into a quiet, peaceful corner near Ciutadella, it’s a wonderful oasis. The garden, pool, and restaurant Smoix all add to a distinctive Menorcan experience, delivered smoothly. The welcoming, friendly staff, along with the padel and tennis courts, round out an excellent level of service at the right price.

We booked a Deluxe Terrace Suite, but at first were put in a room by the entrance. Its terrace was beside the entrance and looked onto the parking lot, so it didn’t have the privacy or peaceful feel we expected. As far as I could tell, it was the only room in that category with this issue. The staff went out of their way to sort things out, and we moved to a proper Terrace Suite for the second half of our stay. It was absolutely amazing. The staff’s service felt like five-star hospitality. The property is tranquil and beautifully maintained, with a large inviting pool and comfortable loungers shaded in the afternoon. The poolside bar was a nice touch. The on-site restaurant is a must, and its crayfish ravioli was one of the best dishes we had on our two-week island trip. Breakfast was generous, with a buffet and several hot options. The location is ideal for getting to some of the best beaches on both the north and south sides of the island. We had an amazing stay, and I couldn’t recommend the hotel more.

I’m here in September now, and it’s fantastic. The place is gorgeous and peaceful, with a relaxed feel and everything spotless. There’s a beautiful pool as well as tennis and padel courts. The staff are genuinely kind. A perfect escape, highly recommend.
