The location was the best part of the hotel. The facilities were okay, but the service was only okay too, not especially helpful or quick. The rooms and service didn't meet what I'd expect from a four-star hotel. Rooms need maintenance: there are cracks and stains on the walls, and their overall condition needs improvement.

Sa Caleta is just a two-minute walk away, Ciutadella de Menorca is 4 km away, and the main island routes are easy to reach. We also really enjoyed the food, from breakfast through dinner, and the staff were friendly and glad to suggest places to see and good restaurants away from the tourist spots. The rooms and facilities, including the pools, bars, restaurants and entertainment, made this a place I’d recommend, especially for families with young kids. My one letdown was the cleaning: I kept finding sand on the floor, which fell short of what I expected.

The noisy restaurant and cramped terrace were the downsides for us, though we all made use of the services on offer and had a good stay overall. Our suite was lovely and kept very clean, and the hotel felt like the one we’d just left in Mal Pas, Majorca, only bigger. We’d never tried a hotel with a mini club before. Our daughter had a really happy time, and a big thank you to Belen, Vanessa and her colleague for bringing such good energy to the activities. The gym is a must, and having it beside the mini club was handy.

Our so-called Luxury room was a surprise for the wrong reason: the door wasn’t secure, and a five-year-old could get in. I’d avoid room 3117 for that reason. There’s not much around the hotel itself, though a five-minute bus ride helps. The TVs have no English channels, which was unusual for us after travelling around many EU countries where we’d found one or two English-language channels or English dubbing. We booked a week, and the hotel wasn’t busy, yet both restaurants required advance reservations. During our visit they looked no more than 20% full, but four hungry people were turned away without bookings. We gave up waiting for the dessert menu, and service was poor even with only eight people seated as I write this. There’s a self-service option next door, but it wasn’t for us, especially at 30 euros per person plus drinks. The Italian/Japanese restaurant seemed to be mostly an assembly area with little actual cooking. Its pizza didn’t live up to the simple pleasure a good pizza should be. I remember a tiny bar in the City of London, with a pizza space about the size of two old English phone boxes, where the pizzas were always worth eating.
