Hotel Princesa Playa

Breakfast had a good variety and the hotel has ping pong and a tennis court, which we enjoyed. Our stay was nice, though the weather was really cold. The gym is tiny and not useful, and there's no indoor pool. The outdoor pool was too cold for us, and the jacuzzi is outside too, with cold water, so we couldn't enjoy either.

We loved the location, with the beach and sea just a five-minute walk away, and the hotel itself was fantastic. Our room looked out over the gardens and pool, was comfortable and spacious, and had everything we needed. The kitchenette worked well for self-catering: two-ring rapid-heat halogen hob, toaster, microwave, fridge freezer, kettle and coffee maker, plus plenty of plates. A sangria jug would have been handy. The bedroom had a roomy queen-sized bed, and the bathroom was clean and well equipped. Fresh towels and linen arrived daily with the maid service. The shower was the one real letdown, swinging from scalding hot to freezing cold with no temperature control. The pool was large and clean, though so cold we only tried it once. The on-site restaurant and bars were very good. We'd happily stay again.

The beach and sea were stunning, and only a 10-minute walk from our room. We had a very enjoyable week at Princesa Playa on a half-board basis, and I'd recommend it for the reasonable price. Our room was a decent size for two, tidy, and cleaned to a high standard each day. Flowers on every balcony made a lovely spot to read and relax. Most staff were friendly and smiling, apart from one woman. The evening shows were mostly good, and there were daily activities: I played table tennis three times, while Mum joined water aerobics. Food was generally high quality, though a few dishes were overcooked and the fish soup was so oily and greasy it wasn't edible. I'd definitely come back.

We spent a week there in early August on half board with our two teenagers. It was mostly calm, with families and couples, and some evening music. The buffet restaurant was nice. The pool and bedrooms were great, and the tennis was free and very good. We also enjoyed the walks nearby, and it's close to Ciutadella and some of the best Calas. Would I recommend it? Absolutely!
