Hotel Anna

The food and drinks were good, and the service was friendly.

The rooms are basic, but always very clean, and the prices are very competitive. There’s free parking on the street, plus a bar and restaurant serving nice tapas on display. I’ve stayed here several times, and the staff have always been helpful and friendly.

The towels and beds were good, but I was glad my stay was only one night. The room was so cramped that fitting my luggage was difficult, and there wasn’t a table. The bathroom door was worn from repeated humidity problems. I didn’t feel welcome at any point: there was no hairdryer, no help with parking, the tap water was horrible, and the place was noisy. There weren’t enough staff, and sometimes their attitude seemed mean, probably because they were overworked.

I ended up staying in the area for more nights, so the hotel could have made money from me if they’d shown some compassion. Cocentaina was absolutely dead at this time of year, but it seemed they cared more about taking my money than working with me. I had to cancel after a bike accident, which happened within 20 minutes of booking and stopped me getting to Cocentaina. I’d hoped to move the booking to the next night, but heard nothing from the hotel and was charged in full, so I took my business elsewhere.
