La Casona de Betanzos

Antonio was a top-notch host, and the welcome was lovely. The rooms each have their own theme and are full of comforts. It feels like paradise here, and I’d happily come back often. Five stars!

The place is lovely, with great decor and nice people. I feel for the owners, who have even gone to the police about the dogs, but apparently nothing came of it. The dog barked late into the night for us, past 1 a.m., and we couldn’t get to sleep until 2. That was the dealbreaker. The mattresses are cheap, breakfast is skimpy, and the road is fairly busy. Those downsides might have been acceptable if we’d been able to sleep.

The host picked me up from Lidl Supermarket and took me back there the next day. I also got a free continental breakfast. The room and bathroom were super clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the Wi-Fi worked perfectly. Since it’s next to the highway, I’d suggest a back room or earplugs.

The staff were adorable, and you can tell this family business really cares about its customers. Our room had a motorcycle theme, including an actual motorcycle in the room, which was amazing. The bed was pretty comfortable, and the shower was brand new and worked perfectly. The bathroom itself looked a little old, especially the paint and walls. La casona de betanzos was exceptional.
