Hotel Restaurante La Parra

The rooms were very basic, though we hadn’t expected much for the price. What made the stay unpleasant was the woman running the place. She seemed genuinely bothered that we were staying there, was very unhelpful, and made us feel unwelcome. She’s the most miserable and unwelcoming person I’ve ever met.

The evening menu food was excellent. Best and hottest coffee I had on the whole trip.

We had lunch with the family, but didn’t feel welcome. It was hard to communicate with the waitress because she didn’t speak any English. We were charged for one more meal than we’d had, and one dish was so very salty it was hard to eat. There weren’t any vegetarian options either. The setting isn’t very nice, and rain had left two tables indoors wet because the roof leaks.

We realized after sitting down that we’d mixed this place up with our booking, which was actually at a restaurant 100m farther up the road. The very busy waitress still went out of her way to find us a table and never questioned us for not having a reservation. They were full and understaffed, and she was running around constantly, yet stayed kind and attentive and gave great service. The food was excellent, and we were glad we’d made the mistake. They also have a pilgrims menu that looks delicious and is such good value. We didn’t try it, but saw other people eating it.
