Hacienda Roche Viejo

We had an amazing few days in a spectacular setting and loved it. The houses were roomy and well heated. We were lucky to have the pool almost to ourselves, which was a real treat. We'll definitely come back.

We booked a two-bedroom cottage for 10 days in July. We'd stayed a few years ago, but this time the Hacienda was a huge disappointment. The gardens are still beautiful and well maintained, and the location suited us because it's peaceful and away from central Conil. You'll need a car for everything, though. Inside, the place badly needs renovating. The mattresses and pillows were very old and uncomfortable, the sheets and sofas were filthy, and we had to ask reception for clean sheets and bedspreads so we could make the beds ourselves. The floor hadn't been swept, there were mosquitoes, and everything felt dirty. At €200 a night, that was completely unacceptable. The air conditioning also switches off every two hours, and the pool has restricted opening hours.

The grounds are beautiful, with lots of palm trees and lush vegetation that's clearly well cared for. The pool was very clean too. Inside the house, though, the furniture, bathrooms, and fixtures need updating. The landscaping care and the interior don't quite match.

The house had everything we needed, and the pool and privacy made it feel just right. It’s about 7 minutes by car from Conil. Jan welcomed us and was so attentive and polite, answering all my questions. I also met the owner when we left. Thanks so much to both of them. Fabulous, my best holiday.
