Los Patrizios

The hotel has lots of charm, and the rooms are very large. It's welcoming and clean, but a few small things brought my rating down to a 4: some light bulbs were missing, the lighting was dim, the WiFi was poor, and the living room still had a cathode-ray tube TV.

The salad was very good and the place itself was nice, though you had to put your jacket on to go to the bathroom. Still, we left disappointed and won't return. The waitress was very serious and unfriendly, and service was slow for a set menu. We'd reserved, but the menu we saw advertised had been cut down because the weekend options had already sold out. For €22, the food wasn't up to scratch: the fish was dry, the seafood stew with broth and potatoes was overcooked, the octopus seemed stale, the prawns were served whole and unpeeled, the beef cheeks were dry, and the meat was overcooked. The brownie cake had clearly been in the fridge for days, hard and crumbly, not a dessert you keep wanting to eat. We also got just one bottle of water for four people for the whole meal, and had to pay for any more we asked for. The star is for the nice setting.

We left very satisfied after a meal of excellent food and a very good menu. The one thing that bothered us was that the menu included only one glass of wine, with additional glasses charged separately. The quality of the food more than made up for it.

Carolina is wonderful, and Juan, her baby, is a delight. The food is excellent, and the place feels like a small tourist inn. Definitely worth stopping by. I recommend it to everyone.
