A small historic square, ringed by old buildings and museums. Its name comes from the colt-shaped fountain at its center, which was installed in 1577. The square also appears in Cervantes’s Don Quixote, with Hostal del Potro included in the story's setting.

I went because Don Quixote, one of my favourite books, mentions this place. It’s a small, pleasant square with buildings much like those around the Jewish quarter. If you haven’t read the book, it may not mean much to you, but for me it was a must-see.

Right in the middle of Old Cordoba, Plaza del Potro has a fountain with a little horse on a pedestal that’s hard to forget. There are also two well-known museums here, Museo de Bellas Artes de Córdoba and Museo Julio Romero de Torres. It’s a beautiful square.

Baby horses used to be sold in this plaza. It’s a nice bit of history to see while walking around Cordoba, and you only need a few minutes to look around.

The view was the one good part. The place felt too modern and hip for its surroundings, and after waiting ten minutes for someone to take our order, nobody came, so I left.
