They confirmed parking was available and that we’d need to pay, which was fine. But after we drove down the steep ramp into the car park, we discovered there was no lift up to the hotel. It would have been impossible for me, at 77, to push my husband in his wheelchair up that ramp. We had booked an accessible room and made it very clear he used a wheelchair. I can’t understand why they accepted the booking. Even worse, we’d guaranteed the room with a card, and they refused to offer or even discuss any kind of refund. The way they treated my husband was very disappointing. I’d avoid this hotel if you’re disabled, or even if you’re able-bodied but don’t fancy carrying your cases up a steep ramp.

After driving for hours, we realized we’d left our passports back at the flat. My wife and I had our driving licences, and we had two kids with us, but the hotel refused to let us stay. They point-blank turned us away and kept our money. We were obviously English and travelling in an English car.

Everything felt perfect, from the very polite and helpful reception staff to the spotless rooms. The location is very good, the room was a good size, and it was quiet at all times. It was cleaned daily without us needing to ask. The only thing missing from the room was a fridge. I didn’t try breakfast.

The men serving breakfast were really kind, which is why I’m giving this place three stars instead of one. The room itself wasn’t comfortable: it was dusty, the towels looked stained, and there was no bedside lamp, so the lights were either all on or all off. The air conditioning didn’t work, which could be rough on a hot night. There was just one big, hug-shaped pillow, and it wasn’t comfortable. If comfort matters to you, I’d avoid this hotel.

We could hear the people in the next room snoring, and there was no sound insulation at all. The rooms were cramped and awkward to use, with a damp smell and very old furnishings. It was so noisy that we struggled to sleep.
