Hotel Cordoba Center

The location is the one real plus. The lobby looks beautiful, but the hotel interior feels dated and the room lighting is dim. The bathroom was the worst part: the water was far too hot and couldn’t be adjusted, making a shower almost impossible. I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels and never had that happen. Skip this place unless you’re after a hot spring in the bathroom.

We were disappointed that we couldn’t get a higher floor, even though we booked seven months ahead. The receptionist who welcomed us on April 18 didn’t try to arrange it. Still, the rest of our stay was really good. The highlight was the rooftop terrace, with its infinity pool and city views. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the bathroom was large and well kept. Getting around was easy too, with the train station 5-7 minutes away and the Mosque-Cathedral about a 20-21 minute walk. A special mention to the kind, helpful rooftop attendant and bartender, who suggested local restaurants and attractions that made our time in Córdoba better. Hotel Córdoba Central is a beautiful hotel with all the amenities you could want.

The building and facilities are fine, and the reception staff were great and clearly tried their best. But nearly every service felt awkwardly organized, and the hotel needs to bring its processes up to the standard of the property. Our four-night stay began with a room that reeked of tobacco, so we moved. The shower in the next room kept turning scalding hot every 45 seconds to a minute, then returning to normal. We reported it after night one and someone came; we reported it again after night two and someone came again. After night three they offered another visit, but we’d had enough and asked to change rooms. They said it would happen the next day. We got back too late and exhausted to move before checking out the following evening, so we took baths to avoid getting burned. Pool towels were another hassle. To get or exchange them, you had to go from the seventh floor down to reception on the first, and they gave you a paper reimbursement receipt instead of sorting it out at the room. The first day my girlfriend left her towel on the floor and housekeeping replaced it. The next day both towels had disappeared. When she asked the cleaner, she was sharply told to go to reception for towels. We tried the pool restaurant on day two. After waiting 40 minutes for our food, we ordered dessert, then cancelled it after another 20 minutes. The staff looked stressed and were arguing. They had to phone orders to the kitchen, then manually enter everything into a computer when guests were ready to leave, which seemed to create chaos. On day three we were in a hurry and tried to get breakfast at the hotel. Even though the entrance staff had a payment terminal, they sent us to reception. We queued behind people checking out, then were told we could charge breakfast to our room if a credit card was on file. I went back to fetch mine, paid, and returned to the breakfast room, where we waited for the waiter to get a call from reception confirming payment. The breakfast cost €16.50 per person and was disappointing.

We were surprised with a bottle of champagne, chocolates, and water, and the team went above and beyond to make our visit memorable. The front desk was amazing, and the rooftop dining staff were excellent. We’d definitely recommend this beautiful hotel and resort, and will most certainly return.
