La Quinta Hacienda

We got lucky with a private terrace all to ourselves, looking out over the pool and city. It was wonderful. Everything was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and I'd definitely come back.

This place was dreadful. The staff felt creepy, management seemed corrupt, and the facilities, location, and advertising were all bad. It was listed as pet friendly, but it wasn't. They charged 30 euros for extra cleaning because of the pets, which seemed high but fair enough, then said there was also a 100 euro deposit in case of breakage. They told me the deposit would go back to my card, but it didn't. First they claimed there was damage, even though I had photos of the room. Then they blamed dog hair on the bed and sofa. They'd seen me set up a large travel crate and knew my dog was in it. Having my dog there for two nights cost an extra 130 euros. That's blatant thievery. If you won't accept pets, don't list the place as pet friendly on booking sites. The photos also give the wrong impression. They made it look like a villa converted into studio apartments, but it's more like a large hotel with a ridiculous number of tiny rooms, smaller than average hotel rooms. They stuff them with beds and still call them studio apartments. My room had a broken toilet seat and an old, stained sofa cover. The pool is insanely small, maybe suitable for a family of four in their back garden, but it gets crowded. There's only a tiny area with perhaps five sun loungers for all the guests crammed into this awful place. The pool hours are strange too, so you can't use it before checkout or right after check-in. The location is awful, miles from anything interesting. I knew that when I booked, but after a week-long road trip I wanted easy parking and a relaxing pool. This place has neither. If you hate Spanish food or good cuisine, it's for you: there's a McDonalds drive thru right next door and another junk food restaurant farther along the same main road.

The room was really nice and very spacious. I wish I'd been there in summer, when the pool is open.
