A Feira Posada

We sat outside overlooking the lake, and the bar had a clean, welcoming feel. The friendly server brought out little plates of nibbles from time to time and even gave our dog a bowl of water. I'd recommend stopping here for a drink 😊

The food itself was very nice, which makes the rest of the evening even more disappointing. We’ve been in this area several times and eaten elsewhere, and we won’t be returning here. We were heading back to Santander after three months of enjoying Spanish food and wanted a good meal. We have two small dogs, and with the weather turning colder, sitting outside for dinner was no longer much fun. After a brisk walk around the beautiful lake to build up an appetite, we sat at the front in the autumn sunshine. No one came over, so I went inside and waited a while before a waiter told me dogs had to sit in the side garden. We moved there and waited again, but still nobody came. I went back in and learned they only served food to the three tables directly outside, so we moved once more. We got a grubby, dog-eared menu and waited another 25 minutes without anyone taking our order. Other diners were being seated and ordering inside. I eventually asked a different waitress, who came out and took our order. My wife chose the three-course menu of the day, and I ordered the entrecote. Our drinks arrived 25 minutes later, then five minutes after that her starter came at the same time as my main. I had finished eating by the time she finished her starter. She had ordered lamb casserole, but was served poached cod instead. It was apparently quite nice, so that wasn't the end of the world, but it wasn't what she asked for. Her dessert was enjoyable. When we got the bill, it included bread that we had never been offered or given, though we saw other tables eating it. We’d skipped breakfast and had walked up an appetite, so that was frustrating. We paid and left without a tip, which is unusual for us. The service was poor, inattentive, and sloppy. It was a busy Friday, so that may explain some of it, but good service still matters, especially at these prices.
