Hotel La Alegría

When a sudden storm hit, the owner found a local who could drive me back to the albergue in Gradefe. Earlier, he'd helped me place my dinner order using Google translate. It was a really nice experience. I'm walking the Camino Vadienese.

The place was clean and roomy, and the food was excellent. We had a Sunday lunch reservation for our large group, and the service was outstanding. I was there with my small child and they were so considerate: since it took me about half an hour to finish my first course, they warmed it up and waited to bring the second until I was done. They stayed attentive and didn't complain once. We’ll definitely be back. A must-try, a must-try.

The owners are friendly, attentive, cultured and professional, always ready to help with a smile. The staff are excellent too, and the service quality lives up to that. I come here without hesitation whenever work takes me within 100 km of the hotel. The room is simple and clean, with a good bathroom, and in summer the big lawn and pool are a pleasure. Everything is kept impeccably clean, and you can tell they take good care of the place. The prices are competitive, which makes it a great option for enjoying Gradefes, the surrounding countryside, and, of course, hunting and river fishing during the regional and national championships. I wouldn't recommend the food here to anyone. For €16, the portions were ridiculously small, and I've had much better meals with more food for €13. The stale bread was inedible. The first course, "soupy rice" with "seafood," was flavorless water with two pieces of the cheapest fish from the market. Then came two bland pork loin fillets, frozen fries and a cold pepper. Seeing the owner's responses, I'll clarify in advance that I eat set menus every day in different places and provinces. What this restaurant served was shameful, and charging €16 for it is outrageous.
