Camping Cubillas

Fine for a night on the way through, but the motorway is right beside the site and the traffic is noisy. It was only half open in early June, with no restaurant or swimming pool. The toilet block was clean, though basic, and there were no toilet seats.

We were walking south to north through Spain and stayed two nights. Having grass beneath us and trees around the pitches was a real treat, and the whole visit felt very relaxed. The little shop has everything for putting together a decent meal, including inexpensive bottled water, since the tap water isn’t drinkable. You can hear the highway, though it wasn’t too loud for us. Showers were very clean and fine, if a little on the cool side.

We got a good price, so it was good value. The host was really friendly, and despite being just off the highway we didn’t hear much traffic because the pitches are at the back of the campground. Handy place to stop when heading toward Portugal. The ground and toilets could use some improvement.

The operators were friendly and did their best to help, and everything was kept clean. There was hot water for both the dishes and the showers. On the busy holiday weekend, finding a pitch got a bit chaotic: the slots aren’t numbered like they are on the map they give you at arrival. They tried to fit everyone in instead of turning people away. Thanks for helping us out.
