I first stopped for coffee and tostada, then came back to try the menu del día. There’s plenty of parking, and the large portions include a drink, dessert, and coffee for €11, which was excellent value. It’s now €12, but service was very slow with only two waiters for a full dining room. The food quality has slipped a bit too, so we’ll probably take it off our lunch club list.

The hotel itself is spotless, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The staff, though, really need to make more effort. They seem uninterested in customers and what they need. I waited at the bar for five minutes with nobody around, there’s no table service, and staff don’t seem to know what’s behind the bar or where to find it. In a country that grows millions of oranges a year, not having orange juice in any form at the bar is just silly.

The tapas are great under a beautiful old grapevine. We stop in a few times each summer on our way back from San Juan beach, but the inattentive service always takes away from the experience.

From the outside, its spot on a busy road is misleading. Inside, it’s really nice, and that’s made it a favorite.

The room was very clean and welcoming, with an en suite, fridge, TV, and a comfortable bed. My husband had lovely bacon and egg on toast for breakfast. It’s pet friendly too, so we’ll book again!
