The room was spacious and the bed comfortable, street parking nearby was easy, and the cafe downstairs was excellent. Still, I'm giving Hostal Casa Julio one star because my three nights there were miserable. I paid nearly €100 a night for a room above a busy boulevard. Traffic noise went on all night, so I had to shut the windows to block some of it. In the middle of August there was no aircon or fan. When I asked the manager for a fan, she flatly said no and said the recent warmth was unusual and nights would cool down. Neither turned out to be true. The room became a hot box, and the only way I could get air moving was to open the door and swing it back and forth. I also wasn't told the room was accessible, and the bathroom sink was very low and awkward to use. If management cared about guests' comfort, they'd provide a simple fan on hot days and tell people beforehand when a room is accessible. If I'd known those things, I wouldn't have booked. I guess that's why they don't mention them. It's too bad, because a €10 fan instead of all the reasons they gave for not having one could have turned this from a one-star stay into five stars.
