Casa Lo Fangar

There’s lovely nature around, and my kids already want to come back here with the family. We had such a nice time! ❤️

We’d booked in April for an August holiday and had paid the deposit months ahead, but at the end of July the owners sent a WhatsApp voice message saying they “probably” couldn’t rent the place to us. They returned our deposit quickly, but gave us no alternative, even though they had other properties, and left us without a holiday at the last minute. It makes us think they’d found someone willing to pay more. We were probably too trusting. The price was constantly being renegotiated depending on which owner we spoke with, the father or either of the sons. The father seemed more honest, while the sons kept trying to raise the price. If we can’t go for some reason, they keep our deposit, but they still wouldn’t honour the booking we’d secured with ours. The owners were completely unprofessional.

The house was beautiful and well located, with large bedrooms that had en-suite bathrooms, a huge kitchen, and a fantastic porch and barbecue area. Three families stayed in the larger house, and the kids loved the pool, bikes, and farm area. Still, we felt watched and judged. We’d chosen a place outside the city for a week with friends and wanted freedom to use the facilities without set schedules. Instead, the pool shut at 9 pm, even on hot days, and there was no lighting around the pool or play area after dark, so the children were left on the porch or playing in the dark. One morning, at 8 or 9, they ploughed land right by our bedroom windows without warning. The owner also scolded us for using too much barbecue firewood. There was no washing machine. We were told people used long cycles when there used to be one, which is what manufacturers recommend to avoid damage, and laundry cost €5. Other rural houses we’ve stayed in with our large family have had a machine. We didn’t get clothespins for towels and swimsuits until the second-to-last day. We were short on rubbish bags too, though they brought some when we asked. There was no hairdryer or Wi-Fi, and the showers had weak pressure and no holder for the showerhead.

The family running the place were friendly and helpful without getting in the way, and offered ideas for trips and restaurants to suit different tastes. It’s in a handy spot in Fangar, with beaches only a short drive away, and the barbecue setup is fully equipped. The houses are lovely, especially the larger one. There are animals and horses for the kids, which our little one adored. It’s a great choice for families or friends, and we’d definitely return. 100% recommended.
