Casa sorrapa

We were two couples with two babies looking for a one-night stay in Deltebre for a triathlon. The booking was accepted at first, then the hostess contacted us to cancel, saying a two-night minimum applied. That condition wasn’t mentioned in the listing. When we asked whether she could make an exception for our situation, we were told to book and pay for two nights even though we’d only stay one. For a booking tied to a specific event, we found that handling unclear and unprofessional, and it felt like poor customer service.

We booked an apartment at Casa Sorrapa through Airbnb two months and two weeks before our trip, and I’m still furious about how this ended. I’d paid almost 400 euros. Airbnb said it could refund the full amount if the host approved it, but Laura refused, even though she kept just 62 euros after all my complaints. She didn’t answer messages or explain herself. My family feels scammed, and for most families that’s a lot of money. I have no empathy for the way this was handled. The issue started during the 48-hour free cancellation period. I contacted Laura, supposedly the owner or manager, to ask about pool safety because we were traveling with one- and two-year-old children who didn’t understand danger and would run off. She confirmed the pool wasn’t fenced and advised me to cancel if I wasn’t sure, saying that would be best for both of us in case anything happened. I followed her advice and canceled through the booking site, then told her on WhatsApp. She said it was fine. I canceled 20 minutes after the 48-hour window, but thought it wouldn’t be a problem since we’d already spoken and the trip was still two months and two weeks away. Airbnb told me there was no issue on its end and that it understood what had happened. It said the host had to approve the refund because the money had already been transferred to her on the very day the reservation was supposed to arrive. This was after our conversation about the children, Laura telling me to cancel, and her saying “okay” when I did. To me, keeping almost all the money after a cancellation two months ahead is completely unfair, and I’d even call it a scam. I hope at least the money goes toward improving the facilities, pool or garden, which other customers’ platform reviews say need a lot of work. This is Laura from Casa Sorrapa...

Communication with Laura, the owner, was smooth and efficient. She was professional, friendly and welcoming, and Eladi, who you’ll meet soon, knows the Delta inside out. The house is beautiful and peaceful, with magnificent views from the upper floor, just 200 meters away. The pool, garden, children’s playground and barbecue are all well maintained. It’s practically in the heart of the Delta, about 15 minutes from most beaches and towns such as Sant Carles de la Ràpita and L'Ampolla. I can’t think of a better base for exploring this incredible region of Spain. My one complaint: the two bedrooms that share a living room and bathroom could each use a mini-fridge, or there should be one larger fridge.

The peace and quiet was one of the best things about my weekend at the Cotxera de Casa Sorrapa. The space is nicely decorated, very clean, and the owner and the person who welcomed us were both lovely. It was a fantastic stay, and I’ll definitely come back.
