This gorgeous hotel is a remodeled pazo, with stone walls and rooms made comfortable while keeping the look of old Galician nobility. It even has its own horreo, and the old courtyard fountain seems to date from when my ancestors were still colonized by the Spanish. The hotel is almost a kilometer off the Camino de Santiago, but the walk felt worth it. We set off at 4am for the final stretch from Padròn to Santiago. At our request, the staff kindly packed lunches with yogurt, orange juice, a sandwich, an apple, and bottled water. They were helpful since no cafés were open yet, and we ate them on the way.

After long days on the Camino, the beds and bedding were wonderfully comfortable. We also appreciated being able to arrange a massage in our room. The staff were warm and helpful throughout our stay. Pazo de Lestrove has a calm feel, peaceful gardens, and a lot of history, while still being comfortable. It was a lovely, restful stay, and I’d recommend it to pilgrims or other travelers.

After the 20 km walk from Caldas de Reis to Padrón, this is a fantastic place to stay. The hotel is beautiful, though be warned that it’s another kilometer away. There’s nowhere to eat on this side of the river, but the accommodation is wonderful if you don’t need a nearby restaurant.

My daughter and I had just finished our day on the Camino when we came around the corner and saw the entrance. We were both thrilled. It was such a welcome surprise, easily the best one I’ve had on my travels. The building and grounds were superb, the staff were great, and both the pool and rooms were pristine and comfortable.

The rooms feel castle-like but are clean and modern, and there are large grounds to stroll around plus a pool. It’s a little way from the Camino and the town, but this historic place is worth the extra steps.
