Cal Camilo

We fell for both the house and the village of Duesaïgües. There were 10 of us in the family for a weekend, and we wished we could have stayed longer. We could order calçots from them, and they even brought them cooked and ready to eat.

Duesaïgües is a very small village with almost no services. The shop was closed in the afternoon when we needed ice, but luckily the owners of the village bar sold us a bag. Despite that, I’d recommend the house, and the quality for the price was excellent. We were there for New Year’s Eve with three families, 6 adults, 4 children, and dogs. The house had good equipment and utensils, though we were short a wine glass at first and the owners brought some later. The three bedrooms were spacious and well equipped. One room had a standard-sized bed, which wasn’t ideal for a couple and their 5-year-old, and could have used a sofa bed or single bed. The patio, barbecue and fireplace were nice extras. Cleaning was adequate but could be better. The hosts were incredibly kind when the water supply failed. Jordi came in person and Cristina was available by phone. They stayed on top of it until January 1st, New Year’s Day, when they got the problem fixed through their insurance. They also thoughtfully offered financial compensation if we had to leave. Once it was sorted, we were able to enjoy the house for another night.

Duesaigües is a peaceful little town, with the viaducts adding a lot of charm. It’s near the castle of Escornalbou by forest track, as well as Falset and Montbrió del Camp. We ate at the restaurant and the Ateneu, and were treated very well everywhere. The website and map photos matched what we found. We had a good weekend there with family and friends. The house was clean, well equipped and spacious, with large bedrooms and a full bathroom in each one. Towels and sheets were provided. The kitchen had a large stove, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, plenty of utensils, and a big fridge and freezer. There was also an ideal patio and a barbecue with 2 burners. A place I’d recommend and return to.

Cal Camilo is a distinctive house for a rural break, tucked into a charming small village with hiking trails all around. It has the essentials, plus a barbecue, smart TV and powerful fireplace. When I stayed, the Wi-Fi barely worked and the hot water didn’t reach every room. Apart from that, everything was perfect.
