Hotel La Familia

I’m reviewing the restaurant only. The seafront location is great, but the food was awful. The omelette was too salty and overpriced, and came plain on an empty plate. The coffee was bad, the tostada came with ham that smelled sour and was straight from the fridge, and the bread was stale with warm butter. They even handwritten the bill like it was the ’80s. The waiter was quick and I’ve no complaint about the service. Such a shame in a spot this good. The hotel might be fine, but I’d stay and eat somewhere else unless you’re feeling brave.

We booked two rooms with balconies and city views, and both had really good beds. It’s a little dated, but reasonably priced, at 60 euros for a double room with breakfast not included. The staff were friendly, and there are lots of good restaurants nearby. We didn’t try the hotel restaurant, though we did buy breakfast, which was okay for the price. The location is the best around, right beside a nice sandy beach.

The restaurant downstairs was very nice, and the beach is only a couple of steps away. Service was impeccable, the room was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well, which you need in July. The only drawback was that our room faced away from the sea. Even so, we could watch the street celebrations for the patron saint of El Campello. It’s a great little hotel right on the seafront, highly recommended.

The walk along the seafront in El Campello is wonderful, and the hotel’s frontage looks out over the sea and beach. We had breakfast there a few times and really enjoyed it. The rooms are nice and the staff are fantastic. Parking was the only issue: we found a spot each day in February, but I’m not sure that would be possible in summer. Would recommend.
